Call for papers to two new Sections

BMC Biotechnology has launched two new sections: Biomaterials section led by Prof. Hyung Joon Cha, Pohang University of Science and Technology, Republic of Korea; Systems and synthetic biology section led by Prof. Ting Lu, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. 

Both sections are now open for submissions.

Announcing the launch of In Review

BMC Biotechnology, in partnership with Research Square, is now offering In Review. Authors choosing this free optional service will be able to:

  • Share their work with fellow researchers to read, comment on, and cite even before publication
  • Showcase their work to funders and others with a citable DOI while it is still under review
  • Track their manuscript - including seeing when reviewers are invited, and when reports are received 


Aims and scope

BMC Biotechnology is an open access, peer-reviewed journal that considers articles on the manipulation of biological macromolecules or organisms for use in experimental procedures, cellular and tissue engineering or in the pharmaceutical, agricultural biotechnology and allied industries.

In 2008 he was appointed at Leiden University in the chair of Industrial Biotechnology He joined BMC Biotechnology as a  Section Editor in 2012.
